Wouxun KG-UVD1P: When I got my license, I asked around for a simple entry level handheld. This $130.00 radio designed for the Chinese Military was recommended to me. This radio can operate on the 2m and 70cm bands, but comes with a software lock that can be easily removed to access the FRS*, GMRS, MURS*, Public Service, Buisness Band, and NOAA* frequencies. You just need to ensure you do not broadcast on the frequencies you are not licensed to.

Motorola GTX 900: I was looking into expanding my exsperience outside of 2m and 70cm I looked up instead of down. Through alot of online research I went on ebay and bought this radio for $80. I then sent it off to be modified and programed ($80). Please see the below information as far as programing/modifying:
